Meet Dr Usama Mohamed
Qualifications: MBBS, MSc (Resp Med), PhD, MRCP (Resp), FCCP, FRACP, GCSRT (Harvard)
Dr. Mohamed is a highly qualified Respiratory and Sleep Physician with over 15 years of clinical and academic experience across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS, Cairo University, 2005), a Master of Science in Chest Diseases (Cairo University, with a thesis focused on viral respiratory tract surveillance), and a PhD in Pulmonary Medicine from Cairo University (2014).
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP, since 2017), and holds the MRCP (Respiratory) qualification from the United Kingdom (since 2020). In 2024, he also completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) program at Harvard Medical School, with a focus on clinical research and evidence-based medicine.
Currently based at St Vincent’s Public and Private Hospitals in Sydney, Dr. Mohamed specialises in the management of airway diseases, particularly asthma and COPD, as well as Long COVID. He is actively involved in developing clinical services for Long COVID patients, incorporating advanced tools such as forced oscillometry and proteomics into multidisciplinary models of care.
Dr. Mohamed has presented his research at numerous international conferences, including invited talks and poster presentations at the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST). He remains actively engaged in academic medicine as an Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Cairo University, where he mentors trainees and contributes to international collaborations.
He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed international publications and presented more than 20 case reports and research abstracts at major international conferences, including CHEST (ACCP), ERS, and ATS.
