Meet Dr Mohamad Alshurafa
Dr. Mohamad Alshurafa is a compassionate and professional General Practitioner with advanced training in skin cancer medicine and surgery. Dr Alshurafa has additional training and experience in chronic disease management, aged care, mental health, diabetes, child health, Aboriginal health, sports medicine, and men's health. He holds a Certificate in Dermoscopy from HealthCert and has completed a one-year extended training in skin cancer medicine.
Dr. Alshurafa studied medicine at the University of Queensland and completed his GP training in Queensland and New South Wales. He also holds a Master of Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University in Canada. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, including The BMJ, and brings a strong academic foundation to his clinical practice. He sits on the planning board for UpToDate and previously served as Clinical Lead for HealthPathways in the Greater Hamilton region in Canada.
He believes in building trusting relationships with his patients and is known for his evidence-based, efficient, and compassionate care. He strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients from all backgrounds and speaks both English and Arabic.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons, aged 7 and 9, going on hikes and playing basketball and soccer together.
