Meet Dr Melody Chiou
Dr Melody Chiou is committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care to individuals and families across all stages of life. She values the continuity and diversity of care that General Practice offers and is passionate about building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients. Fluent in Mandarin, Dr Chiou welcomes patients from diverse backgrounds. Dr Chiou completed her postgraduate medical degree at the Australian National University and was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021.
She also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy. Her early clinical training took place at The Canberra Hospital and St George Public Hospital, where she gained broad experience across Renal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery and Medicine, Paediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Chiou enjoys all aspects of general practice, with interests in Women’s Health, Paediatrics, chronic disease management, and skin cancer medicine. She is an accredited Antenatal Shared Care provider and is experienced in Implanon insertion and removal.
She also performs minor skin procedures to manage uncomplicated skin cancers and is currently expanding her expertise in Type 2 Diabetes management through her work with the Western Sydney Diabetes Clinic. Her previous work at Westmead Hospital as a Physiotherapist has equipped her well for managing musculoskeletal conditions.
Outside of work, Dr Chiou enjoys spending time with her young family, exercising, travelling, and reading.
