    Dr. Roy Whittaker graduated form the University Of Queensland in 1996. He did is internship on the Gold Coast then 2 years residency at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. During his initial years as a resident doctor Dr. Whittaker has had experience and training in Ear Nose and Throat; Dermatology; Mental Health; Paediatrics; Rehabilitation Medicine; Geriatric Medicine; Gastroenterology; and Antenatal care as a junior hospital resident medical officer.

    He joined the RACGP Training Program and graduated 2003 and became of Fellow of the RACGP. He did extensive training on the RACGP program in indigenous health and worked in indigenous health for a few years after graduating. As a result of his experience Dr. Roy Whittaker has developed a special interest in Chronic Disease Management including mental health and understands the impact of social and historical factors on peoples and communities health. Dr. Whittaker strongly encourages and promotes Continuity of Care amongst his and his colleagues patients.

    In his years in general practice he has broadened his knowledge on managing common general practice conditions including skin conditions; musculoskeletal conditions; common communicable infections; and other common presentations not well taught in medical schools. He has a developed interest in assisting patients in modifying their lifestyle to optimise health through simple lifestyle changes and medical advice often seeking the assistance of Allied Health Professional to reach patients goals. Due to the availability of female GP's Dr. Whittaker admits he has had minimal experience or exposure to women’s health, such as HRT, in the last 10 years. Thus Dr. Whittaker has developed a specific interest in Men’s Health but is open to seeing all patients for advise and assistance with health and lifestyle, including risk reduction assessment such as Healthy Heart Checks and Fatty Liver screening and Diabetes Risk Assessments.

    Dr. Roy Whittaker tends not do Pap Smears/ CST. Dr. Whittaker does not do full skin examinations however he does do mole checks. Dr. Whittaker refers his patients to his more experienced colleagues for skin excisions.
