    Early Vaccination

Getting your flu vaccination in early autumn (March–May) helps ensure you’re protected before flu season reaches its peak in winter. It takes around two weeks for your body to build immunity after vaccination, so getting in early helps you stay protected when it matters most.

    FAQ

This FAQ section provides quick, essential answers about the flu vaccine. It is designed to help you understand why annual updates are necessary, and the best timing for your shot to ensure you are protected throughout the winter months.

Why do I need a shot every year?

The flu virus changes its "look" every season. A shot from last year won't recognize the new version of the virus circulating in 2026. Plus, your protection naturally fades after about six months.

Can the vaccine give me the flu?

No. The vaccine is made up of inactive viruses. It’s impossible for them to grow or make you sick. If you feel a bit tired afterward, it’s just your body "practicing" how to fight.

When is the best time to get it?

It's recommended to receive your flu vaccination in early autumn (March-May) to ensure protection before the flu season peaks in winter.

Can I get it at the same time as a COVID booster?

Yes. It is perfectly safe to get both at the same appointment. You might have a slightly sorer arm, but it doesn't make the vaccines less effective.
