Who is eligible for a free flu vaccination?
Flu vaccines are provided free of charge under the National Immunisation Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged six months and over, children aged six months to under five years, pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, adults aged 65 years and over, and people aged six months and over with medical conditions that put them at higher risk of serious illness. FAQs
Everything you need to know about Doncaster East Medical Centre
-
Are you a bulk billing clinic?
We offer mixed billing consultations Monday to Friday: Children aged 15 and younger and patients with a valid DVA, pension, concession, or healthcare card are bulk billed Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, all patients, including children and those with pension, concession, or healthcare cards, as well as Telehealth consultations, are billed privately.
-
What is Mixed Billing?
Mixed Billing requires you to pay a private fee upfront as the cost of the service is not entirely covered by Medicare. We will then submit a claim to Medicare on your behalf, and you will receive a rebate. This results in an out-of-pocket cost to you, which varies depending on the service.
-
How will the fee be processed?
You will be charged the full amount of the consultation fee at the end of your consultation. We prefer payment via EFTPOS, allowing us to process your Medicare rebate on the spot. Alternatively, we can submit the claim electronically on your behalf. The rebate should appear in your bank account within 1-2 business days. Please ensure you have provided updated Medicare details and have sufficient funds in your account.
-
Am I eligible for Telehealth?
To be eligible for Telehealth, you need to have completed a Face to Face consultation with one of our GPs in the last 12 months. If unsure, please call reception for advice on your eligibility and steps available to you.
-
Do I need an appointment for a script/referral/Medical certificate?
Yes, you need to make an appointment for these services.
-
Do you accept walk-ins?
Due to our clinic's busy nature, we recommend booking all appointments in advance to avoid long wait times and frustration. Walk-in appointments for emergencies are prioritised and triaged according to severity. Please book where possible to avoid delays for other patients and yourself.
-
What's your cancellation policy?
For GP consultation appointments, cancellations or rescheduling must be done 2 hours before your appointment for free of charge. No-shows or late cancellations will incur a $30 fee. Allied Health appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance for free of charge. No-shows or late cancellations for Allied Health appointments will also incur a $30 fee due to specific scheduling requirements.
-
Can I come to the clinic if I have cold or flu symptoms?
Please contact our reception team if you have cold or flu symptoms. We will require you to take a RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) before attending the clinic. If the RAT test is negative, you can be seen for a face-to-face consultation, but you must wear a mask during your clinic visit.
