Dr Mun Khin Chan

Orthopedic Surgeon (Specialising in Shoulder, Elbow and Hand)

Dr Mun Khin Chan is a trilingual Australian fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in upper limb and trauma surgery. His emphasis is on shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions. He is able to converse in English, Cantonese and Malay. He obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of New South Wales in 2010. He completed his training in orthopaedic surgery in NSW and was awarded the Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOA) and the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

To provide better specialised care for his patients, Dr Chan completed a shoulder and elbow fellowship with a specific focus in arthroscopy (key-hole surgery), arthroplasty (joint replacement) and sports injuries. He also undertook a hand and wrist fellowship to advance his skills in managing traumatic and non-traumatic hand and wrist pathologies. He, then, further explored different techniques in shoulder surgery by completing a second shoulder fellowship.

With the world constantly changing, Dr Chan strongly believes in working together with his patients to formulate individualised plans towards achieving their needs.

Dr Chan is also active in research with presentations in national conferences as well as publications in international scientific journals. He is involved in educating the next generation of doctors and allied health professionals. He received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching by the University of Newcastle.

Dr Chan is a 3rd Dan Taekwondo black belt holder. Prior to his orthopaedic training, he was active in sports Taekwondo in both national and international level championships, with several podium successes. He was also part of the coaching team of the UNSW Taekwondo Club, which emerged as the overall champion in the Australian University Games.
